BS 9251:2021 System Categories
There are broadly four system categories under BS 9251:2021. The category sets the coverage, the water supply duration and the certification route.

| Cat 4 | All residential buildings 18 m and over |
BS 9251 covers houses, apartments and residential-type accommodation. BS EN 12845 covers predominantly commercial and industrial buildings, and higher-hazard commercial areas.
